Welcome to RodGeorgeRacing.com, the OFFICIAL online home of Rod George, 2007 Mercer and Tri-City Sprint Car Track Champion
Mar 24 (by: Erin Fleeger): Rod George has always been recognized for his consistency during his career as a sprint car driver. Top 5's, top 3's and countless wins at tracks from all across Pennsylvania and Ohio are just business as usual for crowd favorite Rod George and his crew. He is also notorious for his entertaining, yet gracious winner's circle interviews, distinctive, one-of-a-kind ponytail and his silver, Pro Shot Directional Boring, Dr. John Crawford III, Good Tire Service, and Suzanne Stivason Motorsports sponsored #4.

While Rod expects to continue his tradition of consistency in winning, his car will be sporting a brand new look for 2009! The sleek silver body of the car that we have come to know, love and recognize on the track will be replaced this year by a flashy new red and black design that's sure to grab fans attention!
Pictures are now posted on the RGR website, www.rodgeorgeracing.com. So, be sure to check them out on his webpage and get a first look at Rod's new ride before the season gets underway!
"We plan on running basically the same schedule as last season. Lernerville on Friday nights and Mercer on Saturdays." the 2008 Mercer Raceway Park champion said when asked about his plans for the season.
While George never "races for points" at any of his local tracks, it is inevitable that he will be a contender for the coveted checkered flags in every race he runs and consequently, a front runner in the points championship at both Lernerville Speedway and Mercer Raceway Park. However, that will not keep him grounded solely between the two area tracks. RGR plans to travel to other racetracks as well, for the chance to compete in special shows and race against steeper competition throughout the year.
Not least of these is the highly anticipated return of the super sprint cars to Tri-City Speedway for the first time since the 2007 season! Not only is Tri-City bringing back one of the most popular divisions in the area, but is also one of the only area tracks, aside from Lernerville, to boast an All Star sprint race on their schedule!
George is no rookie when it comes to racing with the All Star Circuit of Champions. He has racked up several wins over his career. Just last year at Lernerville's first All Star race of the season on April 25, George had the honor of starting outside pole next to Kenny Jacobs. George raced with the front of the field for 30 laps to secure a commendable third place, finishing only behind pole sitter Jacobs and another All Star veteran, Paul McMahan, respectively.
Along with winning the points championship for the 2008 season at Mercer Raceway Park, George was also honored at the Lernerville Speedway banquet for the Cavalcade Award, which he shared with fellow sprint driver, Bob Felmlee.
"I have to thank my sponsors for their continued support." George said. "E & L Drilling, Good Tire Service and Max Weiss are back again and John Royer Windows who has come on board as a new sponsor for the 2009 season. We couldn't do it without them!" George said.
Almost every year we see sprint cars change colors and designs at the beginning of the racing season. We also see changes in drivers, sponsors, teams and owners, but this may be one of the more significant announcements for sprint car fans this spring. Rod's daughter and #1 fan Kelsey George is now officially the newest and youngest sprint car owner in our area! With her own equipment and personnel, Kelsey George Racing (KGR) is sure to be an exciting team to watch this year! Keep your eyes open for more news as it becomes available!
It has been a long off-season for us all and Rod George and his crew are ready to go racing! RGR is set to hit the speedway for the first time in the 2009 season on March 27 at Lernerville Speedway, when the green flag waves, the smell of methanol burning fills the air and the dirt flies once again, finally! Don't miss it!
